About

A marketplace built around the owner.

Legacy CPA Transitions runs a confidential marketplace for CPA and accounting practice transitions across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. We represent owners and bring a vetted group of buyers — a private, competitive process, on the owner's timeline.

Our marketplace exists because most CPA firm owners deserve better than either a single unsolicited offer or a public listing. We represent the owner, prepare the opportunity confidentially, and introduce it to a vetted group of buyers so real options — and real competitive tension — exist.

Every conversation begins with the owner's goals: retirement horizon, client care standards, staff continuity, financial expectations, and post-close involvement. The structure of the transition — full sale, phased buy-out, or merger — follows from those goals, and the buyer group is shaped accordingly.

We work only in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, where an in-person integration and local continuity are straightforward. Every buyer we introduce works from the same information on the same schedule.

What we believe

Four convictions shape every conversation.

Owners deserve a real, competitive process.

One offer is not a market. A private, competitive process with a vetted buyer group produces better outcomes for owners, staff, and clients.

Confidentiality is not optional.

No listings, no marketing packets, no public disclosure. Information is released only in stages the owner approves.

Client relationships are the firm's most valuable asset.

Continuity of service is the standard we plan every transition around — with every buyer we introduce.

Owners deserve to transition on their own timeline.

Some transitions take six months; some take five years. The schedule belongs to the seller.
